LUTHERING US: Life, Work and Consequences of a German Friar

Many faithful Catholics can legitimately ask themselves what has happened in the Church so that it has gone from affirming that “Protestantism or the Reformed religion, as its founders proudly call it, is the compendium of all the heresies that existed before him, that have existed since and that may yet be born to the ruin of souls” (Catechism of St. Pius X, 129) to affirming that the initiator of Protestantism is a witness to the Gospel.
Some of the faithful may believe that it is all the fruit of the confusion that has reigned in the Church in recent years, and they are not wrong, but those who believe that the face-lift of the heresiarch Martin Luther is a mutation produced during the pontificate of Francis would be mistaken…
Eighteen years ago I left evangelical Protestantism to return to the Catholic Church. From that moment on, my faith went from depending on my personal interpretation of Scripture to being the faith of Christ’s Church. A faith that, today more than ever, needs to be defended from those who extol heresiarchs like Luther and want to plunge the Church into the dark waters of modernism and Protestantization.
This book by Fr. Javier Olivera Ravasi serves to show us the real Luther, his consequences and his reach (Prologue)
