“The bella virtù”: this is what Saint John Bosco called that most beautiful angelic virtue—the one that makes us like the angels of Heaven and which, if we remain steadfast, will allow us to see the one true God Himself (Mt 5:8).
It is she: the virtue so loved and so sought after, a lovely young maiden who has given us (and still gives us) so many headaches as we strive to acquire her and keep her. She is, in the end, a beautiful Lady who asks of us a single combat against the world (and the Prince of this world), against its temptations and seductions.
Among so many writers and so many beautiful things that have been said, there is one saint who stands out for his special tenderness and predilection: Saint John Bosco, patron of youth. His life and example are filled with anecdotes, dreams, and teachings about purity. For this reason, we have wanted to draw out from his talks and his many wanderings whatever may best help us to attain and spread the bella virtù.
